Sponsorship - How you can help

The expedition will be entirely self-financed.  That is to say, any financial donations will go directly to Link Community Development and will not be used to purchase equipment or pay for food and accommodation en-route.

Corporate Sponsorship - Individual Donations

Every donation will make a real difference to the lives of children in some of the poorest parts of Africa:

  • £10 can help provide training for an unqualified teacher working in a rural school
  • £30 is all it costs for a teacher to attend a week's residential training course
  • £100 is enough to buy resource books for 12 teachers to use in training workshops
  • £250 sponsors a particular school for one year

Corporate Sponsorship

Sponsoring our expedition can demonstrate your corporate and brand values, raise the profile of your company and confers a number of excellent benefits:

  • Association with a high-profile expedition
  • Positive local and national media coverage
  • Promotion through the expedition website
  • Positive association with a worthy charitable cause
  • Acknowledgment in post-expedition publications

Some examples of the different levels of corporate giving are listed below, but please note that we are very flexible as far as sponsorship is concerned. Should you have any specific requirements or would like to tailor a sponsorship to your marketing needs we would be more than happy to assist.

All Sponsors will receive:

  • Mention on the expedition website, press releases, and expedition publications
  • Regular updates by mail or email before and during the expedition
  • Comprehensive post-expedition report
  • Use of selected photographs from the expedition

Main Sponsor: £1000+ buys:

  • Main frontal logo on expedition clothing and main logo on bicycles
  • Verbal thanks during press interviews
  • Main banner on top of www.africabybike.org homepage
  • Shared banner on website secondary pages
  • Other rights subject to negotiation

Other Sponsors @ £500:

  • Logo on team clothing, bikes and correspondence
  • Shared banner on website secondary pages
  • Other rights subject to negotiation

Other Sponsors @ £200:

  • Logo on expedition correspondence
  • Links on several pages of the website

Individual Donations

An important part of the fundraising comes from donations of any amount from individuals interested only in helping support such a worthwile cause.  All donations will go directly to the charity, and will not be used to pay the costs of the expedition, so you can be sure your money will be going to good use.  (See what a difference even a small donation can make at the top of this page.)  You can make donations:

  • By sending a cheque, postal order or cash directly to Link Community Development.  Have a look at Link's information about donations here.  Please make cheques payable to Link Community Development, and send them to:
    Helen Thomas
    Link Community Development
    Unit 39
    Kings Exchange Business Village
    Tileyard Road
    London N7 9AH
Please mark the envelope "Africa by Bike".  Many thanks!

  • Online - you can now donate online, using a credit or debit card on a secure server.  Just click here to go to Justgiving.com...
  • If you'd like to collect sponsorship from work colleagues or friends on behalf of the expedition, then even better!  Just click here to download a sponsorship form (Word version) and print it off.  Remember to stress that all the money will be going directly to Link, and many thanks for your help!
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation by up to one third by making a Gift Aid declaration. Link Community Development can then reclaim the tax you have already paid from the Inland Revenue.
